I advise you to read it slowly, savoring it like a fine wine and leaving the moral hidden in each chapter resonates through your head like an echo throughout the day, this will make you reflect more deeply into every psychological tip that Bucay tries to teach us.

It's a book I recommend to everyone because I think we all need from t "Let me tell you a story" is a book of short extension made of little tales that need to be read calmly, with mime and especially with a lot of personal reflection. It's a book I recommend to everyone because I think we all need from time to time to reflect on ourselves, finding out what are our limits and our deficiencies and above all, to be aware of our emotions and become better persons.

At least for me. Jorge Bucay wrote this book in gestalt mannerism, meaning, Bucay is a real Argentinean psychotherapist and he wanted us, me, the reader to get in contact with myself, using Based on this book, translation, ''Let me tell you a story'', I got an impression that Jorge Bucay is trying to be South American guru of popular psychology. Jorge Bucay wrote this book in gestalt mannerism, meaning, Bucay is a real Argentinean psychotherapist and he wanted us, me, the reader to get in contact with myself, using autosuggestion as a tool.

Which is of course basic thing of any self analysis, but I found his stories quite shallow and too general. Yes, all of his stories have one intention — using warm connotations, fables and parabolas, symbolism from ancient cultures, countries and religions Which is ok if your inner world is a land not yet discovered, and if you are disconnected with yourself and if you need instant help.

Something soothing that will tell you, you are not alone. Which is again, something we all can relate to. Nobody wants to be psychologically special this sounds dumb : , we all need to have and we want comrades during our crises.

I am not trying to diminish Bucay, but I heard so much about this book and now I'm really disappointed. He used many anecdotes and situations which everybody has in life — problems with work, partners, lovers, friends and family He used stories, rather that advices, to show us the way ''out''. It just didn't work with me. Maybe that's my problem. But to explain that I would have to start a sentence with, My dear diary One thing i can tell for sure about this book - it's life-changing.

All of those stories make you realize that what it is, it's not always what it seems. View 1 comment. I guess this is a self help book. The author is a gestalt psychotherapist, and he is one of two the main characters of this book, or that was my impression. To be quite honest, I didn't really connect that well with the self help aspect of this book, but this is an interesting collection of folktales, parables, and jokes from all over.

There are pieces from Chris I guess this is a self help book. His retellings of them are quite fun. I enjoyed reading this collection, and I may dip into sometime again.

Aug 17, Athanasios Kalimeris rated it it was amazing. One of the best books I have ever read. Highly recommended, especially for the "restless". I prolonged finishing this book because I liked it so much that I never wanted it to end.

All of the stories were very interesting and taught me something new or gave me a new perspective on certain topics. This is not your typical self-help book, so I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

I don't usually choose to read or like reading that genre of books but I fell in love with this one. Jan 11, Masha rated it it was amazing. Some stories were very good, some were so and so. View all 3 comments. I enjoyed reading the book. It is really easy to read and gives you something to think about after every chapter. I couldn't get all of the stories though.

There are many good old wives' tales. Some of the stories are known from other sources and books. View 2 comments. It's an easy, special little book that is quite unique. Full of short stories which originate from different cultures and make you think about yourself and life in general. It took me by surprise and i totally loved it. Jul 01, Deja rated it it was amazing. Good book for therapeutical work For psychologists etc. Jan 06, James rated it it was amazing Shelves: must.

Jorge Bucay is always great! This book was painful to read. Like a self help book written for middle schoolers, and badly written at that. Oh, my aching head I will come back to this book in some time in my life, I just know it. This book is full of wisdom, neatly packaged into stories that are beeing told in therapy-sessions. The overarching story itself isn't really important, but it doesn't have to be.

The main appeal of this book, to me at least, are the stories the therapist tells the narrator. They are about everything in life. Be it fear, happiness, expectations or Lies. You will enjoy this book the most if you really try to understand what ev I will come back to this book in some time in my life, I just know it. You will enjoy this book the most if you really try to understand what every story wants to tell you.

At the Core of each story there is a realisation about the topic in question. I did not read this book carefull enough. I bet I missed the meaning of a lot of stories so I know that I will read this once in a while, even if It's just so I can re-read a story I loved.
