ASTM C determines the breaking load and calculated flexural strength of a rectangular cross section of a preformed block-type thermal insulation tested as a simple beam and is also applicable to celluar plastics. This test method covers procedures for a loading system with center loading on a simply supported beam and for a loading system with two equally spaced symmetric load points.
These test methods are useful for testing for the modulus of rupture or the breaking load, the elastic modulus in bending, and the flexural strength. These values are useful in quality control and specification purposes. By means of our insulation testing expertise and modular product design, we will help find the testing solution that is right for you.

ASTM C203 Thermal Insulation Testing
ASTM C is a test standard used to determine the strength of block-type thermal insulation. Breaking load and flexural strength can be determined in this test method by either a three-point or a four-point bend test. It should be noted that ADMET test systems would be able to accomplish all of the specified procedures. Determine which test method I or II is best suited for your material, and configure the bend fixture and span length according to the specifications. Determine which test procedure A, B, C, or D is best suited for your material and machine in order to calculate the correct loading rate as described in the standard. The method of loading during the test can either be strain-rate dependent A and B , stress-rate dependent C , or simply a constant rate of crosshead extension D.
