Sorry to say that but apart from the essay strictly on Modernism and Postmodernism the rest is appalling. Lipovetsky goes over the same idea of individualism and the alienating effects of digitalization - which regarding the fact that this was published more than 20 years ago I assume it was a very innovative premise at the time- but it's a non-stop debate about the same ideas until the text becomes unbearable to read; the rest seems to be quite vague.

A sociological and philosophical essay. This book is not easy and is not "literature" in the most common sense, mostly academical style and lenguage. So with the technical warning for an uninformed reader. The book has amazing insights about our society.

For me, who I am not in 80' France, is very interesting how the autor had the ability to grasp and rationalize sociological changes that are 20 o 30 years later just being seen on my country or globally?
