Nancy is a little too naive for my taste though.

This thing deserves less than a star because this is literally the worst book that i have read. Apr 01, Anna rated it really liked it. Reread the book. It's quitw difficult to get into thw atmosphere of this gypsy Sevilla with all the slang that even for native Spanish speakers sometimes is very difficult to understand.
Anyway, I kind of enjoyed the second persob narration, as the narrator, Nancy, always addresses her friend Betsy, who is the person she sends the letters to back to the States.
Probably not my first reading option, it's clearly a really funny book, though for Spanish readers that really know what the characters are talking about. Probably not my first reading option, but it always good to put yourself ont he skin of a foreigner to discover your own country and your own customs and ways of living.

Spanish is my second language, so I was looking for a book that would be interesting and challenging. I loved Tesis de Nancy! It was often funny and I learned plenty of sayings and idioms in Spanish. I'm currently living in Sevilla and teaching in Alcala de Guadaira, so it was great reading about places I've seen and visited. Nov 13, Lauren rated it it was amazing.
This book was very difficult for me to read but every time I looked up a word it was worth it. I learned so much from Sender's characters and his sense of humor made me laugh a lot at Nancy's experiences in Spain.
