The book describes the lives of people in the villages of Kerala and also those of Keralites who leave the villages and move to cities. Stories like Kuttiedathi , The deluge,Doors of heaven open and Insight covers topics like marriage, divorce, adultery, old ailing parents all of which describe the mindset of people with a Malayali touch. And at times, they end definitively. When I spotted this book at Thiruvananthapuram airport, I simply grabbed it and continued turning pages at one go. I still took some time to stay with the stories and felt happy that I could relate to them. The original language didn't matter. Atleast the language, it is translated in made it a lovely read. Most of the characters were familiar to me. Though I hate tragic ending, I always his stories showed life, how our life goes beyond our planning. The main attraction of his stories are the relationships and the love. You can always feel the love between the characters and how society comes in between them.

Madath Thekkepaattu Vasudevan Nair born 9 August , popularly known as MT , is an Indian author, screenplay writer and film director. He shot into fame at the age of 20 when, as a chemistry undergraduate, he won the prize for the best short story in Malayalam at World Short Story Competition conducted by The New York Herald Tribune. The deep emotional experiences of his early days have gone into the making of MT's novels. Most of his works are oriented towards the basic Malayalam family structure and culture and many of them were path-breaking in the history of Malayalam literature. His three seminal novels on life in the matriarchal family in Kerala are Naalukettu , Asuravithu , and Kaalam. Randamoozham , which retells the story of the Mahabharatha from the point of view of Bhimasena , is widely credited as his masterpiece. Vasudevan Nair is a script writer and director of Malayalam films.
