The first one I read, The Bible Fraud, had some statements in the beginning, which shocked me, and I wondered if he might be off his rocker. I started checking everything he claimed by searching online and trying to find out if he had done good research.
It all checked out. I am glad I didn't quit after coming across the first statement that seemed out of place. I reread the passage in question when I had calmed down, and realised that he was perfectly aw I bought several of Tony Bushby's books. He described a statue of a Roman that said 9BC on it. This infuriated me because I "knew" that a statue of a Roman could not have the letters "BC" in its date.
I wondered if he was interpreting the date to indicate "9 BC". He goes on to point out that the statue could only have been made after this form of dating had started being used. I had almost thrown the book out before that point. Bushby derives certain clues from this. He relies on some ciphers, which, I know many people find inconclusive. His next book "The Crucifixion of The Truth" tells us that many people sent him corroborating evidence of the deductions he publishes in The Bible Fraud, vindicating his earlier conclusions.
To me this reads like a detective story. While some of the author's claims can seem a little outrageous he does make sense of the whole way Christianity came about and has the most plausible explanation I have come across. Some events he tracks down from ancient historical records are at odds with some segments of history and this will inevitably result in controversy.
I think he has contributed richly to the debate on the historicity of Jesus and has made connections which make perfect sense, and mostly follow reasonable logic. View 2 comments. Couldve been better researched, couldve delivered a more solid knockout punch. Instead comes off as gossip, not reasearch. Unfortunate as the title is very promising indeed.
Still an interesting bit of aromatic pabulum. May 01, Daniel Maxwell rated it it was amazing. Very enjoyable read. In fact I am keeping the boook solely to have those 4 chapters as a reference.
